Cooking With Tofu
With tofu, you can delight the palette and nourish the body.
What is Tofu?
Just like cheese is made from cow’s milk, tofu is made from soymilk. Hot soymilk is curdled by using a coagulant- niagari, vinegar or lemon juice. It is then pressed into a block. Tofu is high in protein, but low in calories. It is sodium-free, cholesterol free and fat free.
A popular joke is that tofu is also taste-free. However, the fact that it is taste free is a benefit. Tofu will easily take on the flavour that you fashion by your own creative use of spices, natural colourings, and garnishes. With tofu, you can delight the palette and nourish the body. Your own creativity and nutritional goals are the guideposts.
